سورة القمر

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ١٧

Surah Al-Qamar (54:17)“And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?”Sahih International translation

Tajweed colours in this verse

  • Qalqalahوَلَقَدْ
  • Maddالْقُرْآنَ
  • Silent lāmلِلذِّكْرِ
  • Idghām with ghunnahمِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
What do the colours mean?
Qalqalah
The dāl in qad has a sukūn and is a qalqalah letter, so it is pronounced with a light bounce.
Madd
In al-Qur'ān, the alif after the hamzah is stretched for two counts (madd badal).
Silent lām
The lām of al- is not pronounced before dhāl, a sun letter, so the dhāl is doubled.
Idghām with ghunnah
A nūn with sukūn before mīm merges into it, with a nasal sound held for two counts.

A letter from Aya

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I'm Aya, a Quran teacher from Egypt. I teach women and children to read, recite and memorise the Holy Quran, in live lessons online.

I believe the Quran is learned letter by letter, verse by verse. So I start with every woman and every child from where they are, correct their recitation gently in every lesson, and we move forward together without rushing and without embarrassment.

The learning journey

Everyone starts from their own level and moves forward step by step. After the trial lesson, Aya suggests the right stage and a clear plan for it.

  1. Reading from the very beginning

For those who don't know the letters yet, or read with difficulty

The letters, their sounds and where they are pronounced, the vowel marks, tanwīn and madd, then joining letters and reading words, building up to reading from the mushaf.

  2. Recitation with Tajweed

For those who can read and want to recite correctly

How and where each letter is pronounced, the rules of nūn and mīm with sukūn and of tanwīn, and prolongation (madd), with recitation corrected in every lesson.

  3. Memorisation and revision

For those who want to memorise and keep it

Step-by-step memorisation, starting with the short surahs of Juz ʿAmma, with a regular revision plan so that memorised surahs stay secure.

Safe lessons for children

Clear commitments that parents know before their child starts:

All safety commitments

  • Everything is arranged with the parent or guardian, and all messages go to them.
  • A parent or another adult stays nearby throughout the lesson.
  • Lessons run through the parent's account, or a link sent to the parent.

Try it with your child: explore the letters

Choose a letter to see its shapes and where its sound comes from, then trace it with a finger to earn a star.
