Privacy notice

Who we are
This website belongs to Aya, a Quran teacher based in Egypt, who is responsible for your data. “We” in this notice means Aya.
For anything about your data, contact hello@aya.freelanc.net.
What we collect
On this website, we only collect what you write or choose in the trial lesson request form: your name, your WhatsApp number or email address or both, who the lessons are for, the number and ages of any children, the level, your goal if you chose one, the days and times that suit you, your time zone, your preferred reply language, and any message you write.
We also record which page and button you used to open the form, so that we can see which parts of the site help visitors most.
We do not ask for children's names in this form.
Why we use it
We use these details to reply to your request, arrange the trial lesson and, if you decide to continue, arrange lessons. We don't use them for marketing, we don't sell them, and we only share them with the service providers listed below.
Legal basis
We use your details to reply to your request and, if you decide to go ahead, to arrange and give the lessons you ask for. Because a request for Quran lessons may reveal religious belief, and because children's data needs particular care, we also ask for your explicit consent when you send the form. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us; this does not affect what was done before. If you withdraw it, we stop using your details, which may mean we can no longer arrange lessons.
Children
If the lessons are for a child under 18, a parent or guardian must send the request, and all communication about the child is with the parent or guardian only.
Who sees your data
Requests reach Aya's email inbox through Cloudflare, which hosts this website and delivers form messages, and are stored by Aya's email provider, Microsoft (Outlook).
Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your device's IP address and the details of each request, to deliver this website and protect it from attacks. It keeps short technical logs for a limited time, and we look at them only to fix problems.
If you ask Aya to reply on WhatsApp, your number and messages are also handled by WhatsApp (part of Meta) under its own privacy policy.
Your data may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under the contractual safeguards these providers offer.
If you contact Aya through her Facebook page, Facebook (part of Meta) handles your messages under its own privacy policy. This website only links to the page: it loads nothing from Facebook.
If you start lessons
Lessons take place on the video platform agreed with you (Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams), and payments go through the method you choose (such as bank transfer, PayPal or Wise). Each of these handles your data under its own privacy policy.
Lessons are never recorded.
Emails and WhatsApp messages you send Aya directly, including to hello@aya.freelanc.net, are handled in the same way as requests sent through this website.
Cookies and storage on your device
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from automated attacks.
The letters explorer keeps the stars a child earns in the browser on that device only, and nothing is sent to us. You can clear them with the “Reset stars” button on that page, or by clearing your browser data.
If you start the request form and close it before sending, the form keeps what you typed in that browser tab only, so you don't lose it. It is deleted when you send the request or close the tab, and nothing reaches Aya until you press “Send request”.
The letters certificate is made in your browser. A name typed on it is only printed: it is not saved or sent.
How long we keep it
We delete requests from people who don't start lessons within 30 days. Students' details are kept while lessons continue and deleted within 30 days of the last lesson.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, ask to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere, or withdraw your consent at any time, by contacting hello@aya.freelanc.net.
We make no automated decisions about you, and we do no profiling.
You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country, such as the Personal Data Protection Center in Egypt or the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will publish the new version on this page with the date it was updated.
